Dime is an independent Canadian brand that was actually created by accident. It all started in 2005 in Montreal, when a group of teenage friends set up a website and started posting their skateboarding clips. They were mainly characterized by funny inserts and good street skateboarding. Initially, they called themselves "The Dimestore Crew", but over time, so as not to make people think they were a skateshop, they shortened their name to Dime. In 2010, they released their first video "The Dime Store Video" in which Antoine Asselin, Phil Lavoie, Bob Lasalle, Hugo Balek, Charles Rivard, Eric Riedl and Alexis Lacroix had a party, and from then on Dime started to become more and more famous. Dime is also famous for the "Dime Glory Challenge" competition organized since 2015, which is definitely different from the classic competitions and consists of various fun competitions. In fact, this is exactly how the guys from Dime approach skateboarding - it's supposed to be, above all, good fun, but with a distance from each other. Interestingly, Dime does not have a classic team that represents it. It is a more loose team of friends from all over the world, the core of which is Antoine Asselin and Phil Lavoie. As Phil said in one of his interviews: “It's not like we have a team or anything. If you're down to skate, you're part of the crew. We have friends who don't skate that are part of Dime.”
